Harvard Extension Schools Nuclear Deterrence Graduate Certificate

After 10 years as in the US Marines, Adam Schwarze joined the US Navy as a Naval Special Warfare Officer. Adam Schwarze is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and currently pursuing a master of liberal arts at Harvard Extension School with certificates in international security and nuclear deterrence.

In the Nuclear Deterrence Graduate Certificate program at Harvard Extension School, students explore topics regarding nuclear deterrence, security, arms control, and nonproliferation. Featuring a curriculum designed with the US Air Force’s consultation, it helps students deepen their comprehension of nuclear deterrence history and policy and prepare for careers in the military, the government, or international organizations.

In addition to the history of nuclear weapon development and proliferation, the coursework covers how the Cold War influenced the nuclear arms race. It also includes foundational knowledge of the various types of nuclear arms and delivery systems, including intercontinental and submarine-launched ballistic missiles. At the conclusion of the program, the objective is for participants to have a clear understanding of nuclear capabilities and security policies worldwide.
